QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
The backyard, the bell, the DNF — the things every first-timer wants to know before they toe the line.
I just registered and haven’t raced yet — do I already have a page?
Yes. The moment you have a runner ID, your page exists — it just shows what’s waiting instead of what’s done: your first card, your first shape, your first shelf of marks, all sitting ready for your first logged loop.
How do I change my avatar or cover photo?
Sign in and open your own runner page — hover your photo and you’ll see the option to change it right there, no separate form. The same control also lives on your dashboard. JPEG, PNG or WebP; up to 5MB for your avatar, 8MB for your cover.
How do I get my finisher certificate?
From your dashboard, under YOUR CERTIFICATES, or straight off the race in your own record on your profile page. It unlocks once that chapter is finished and at least one loop is on the ledger for you — and only you can ever download your own.
How do I get my race photos?
The organiser posts one official album per chapter after the race — you’ll find the link on your dashboard the moment it’s up. There’s no separate upload step on your side.
What can other people see on my runner page?
Your results — the same yards already public on the records and leaderboard pages: your name, home city, career totals, race-by-race ledger. Never your date of birth, contact details, payment history or anything that identifies you beyond your running. That boundary is stated again on your own page.
I forgot my password — can I reset it?
Not yet, self-service. If you signed up with Google, sign in with Google instead. Otherwise, reach us through Contact and we’ll get you back in.
My name, city or club is wrong on my page — can I fix it?
Your display city and club can be updated any time from your dashboard. Your permanent race record — name, gender, debut year — is fixed on purpose, the same way a results sheet is; if it’s genuinely wrong, reach us through Contact and we’ll correct it on the ledger.
What is a backyard ultra?
A 6.706 km loop, run every hour on the hour, until one runner remains. No finish line, no fixed distance. The last runner standing is the only finisher — everyone else records a DNF.
Do I need to be an ultrarunner to enter?
No. Backyard 4 is designed as a first ultra. If you can run 6.7 km in an hour, four times, you're in the game.
Where does the 2026–27 season run?
Six chapters: Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Same loop distance, same rules, same clock in every city.
How do I register?
Through the chapter page for each city. Registration opens city by city — the community hears the dates first.
What is the Indian backyard record?
52 yards — 52 loops, 52 hours, roughly 348 km — set by Sunil Sharma at Big's Backyard Ultra in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, in October 2024 — the longest last-one-standing run by any Indian. Ashwini Ganapathi holds the women's mark at 28 yards, set at our Bengaluru chapter.
What happens if I DNF?
You take home the exact number of the loop where you stopped, and a DNF memento. In a backyard, that's not failure — it's the receipt of a real attempt.
Can I walk?
Yes. Walking is strategy, not weakness. Many strong backyard runners walk parts of every loop.
